Since 1 January 2017, free WLAN has been available to all passengers on Deutsche Bahn's ICE trains - in both 1st and 2nd class. By providing parallel access to all mobile networks, Deutsche Bahn ensures a strong, fast and stable network, which it says is the "best mobile WLAN system available on the market today". The transport company is thus upgrading to meet the needs of its customers, because according to a survey by Radiozentrale, 46.3% of respondents would like to use their smartphone more often when on the move (source: statista.com). In recent years, the number of mobile internet users has increased rapidly from only 20% in 2011 to 68% in 2016 (source: ZDF, ARD, via statista.com).
The requirements for the operation of web applications, especially e-commerce platforms and online shops, have changed: In the competition for the favour of shop visitors, which ultimately manifests itself in a good conversion rate, the user experience is constantly being improved in order to stay ahead of the competition.
